Synopsis from Goodreads: Scott Pilgrim's life is totally sweet. He's 23 years old, he's in a rockband, he's ""between jobs,"" and he's dating a cute high school girl. Nothingcould possibly go wrong, unless a seriously mind-blowing, dangerouslyfashionable, rollerblading delivery girl named Ramona Flowers starts cruisingthrough his dreams and sailing by him at parties. Will Scott's awesome life getturned upside-down? Will he have to face Ramona's seven evil ex-boyfriends inbattle? The short answer is yes. The long answer is Scott Pilgrim, Volume 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life.
Seeing as I hadn't read the original black-and-white versions and I've seen the movie and adored it, I was really excited to start this one. And thankfully, it was everything I thought it would be and more.
It's full of hilarious and witty dialogue. Most of the time, I found myself laughing out loud. The characters are all really funny and likable. I loved all the main characters and the supporting characters, and found them all really fun to read about.
I also really loved the concept of it all. The video game-y things were really awesome and fun to see. The plot was fast paced, of course, and really kept your interest. The artwork was also really good. Overall, this book is fun, hilarious and clever. And even if comic books/graphic novels isn't your thing, I think there is something in this for everyone.
Looking forward to reading more of this series, and more of Ramona's evil ex's. (Oh and if you're a big fan of the series, you'll be glad to know that at the back of the book, it includes the author's character designs, how the characters and story reflected on his life, and other fun stuff!)
