Book2Movie News! Valentine is Cast in TMI!

Guys. Guys. GUYS. Mortal Instruments fans, WE HAVE OUR VALENTINE MORGENSTERN! After days of speculation, Cassie Clare confirmed it on her Tumblr.

Jonathon Rhys Meyers is Valentine.

Okay, so I never thought I'd say this, but.. I'm a little attracted to Valentine right now. Huh. Weird. If you don't know who Jonathon Rhys Meyers is.. crawl under from out that rock and go watch some movies! He's been in many well-known films, such as Bend It Like Beckham, Mission: Impossible 3, August Rush and Albert Knobbs. He also played King Henry VIII in the show,  The Tudors. If you wanna know about any more projects he's been in, here his IMDB page.

I've gotta admit, I definitely didn't picture Valentine look him at all (I pictured him like.. maybe Paul Bettany kinda?) but hey, I'm not complaining one bit. And he is a brilliant actor, to say the least. The guy's been nominated and has won heaps of awards, including a Golden Globe.

Now the only people (I think) that are left to be cast are Alaric and Raphael! WOO!

Book2Movie News! Luke and Madame Dorothea Cast In Mortal Instruments!

I doubt there's anything better than coming home to see Mortal Instruments movie news! Attention, Mortal Instruments Fandom, as two more actors have been cast! And here they are:

Aidan Turner has been cast as Luke.

Now, I've gotta admit, this is not at all how I pictured Luke. I pictured him more as that guy from Gilmore Girls (I can't remember what his name was.. The one that worked at that cafe thing?) - a middle-aged guy with his hair starting to go grey. But hey, I'm all for this casting choice, because this guy is pretty damn gorgeous-looking. And apparently he is super talented. You may know him from Being Human, and he is also in the upcoming movie, The Hobbit. If you wanna check out more of what he has been in, find his list of films and other projects here.

And here is our lovely Madame Dorothea. She is being played by CCH Pounder.

This actress may look familiar as she's been on loads of shows including The X-files, ER and The West Wing. She definitely seems to fit the part and I'm glad that the people behind the movie seem to be keeping all the smaller roles from the book in the movie (fingers crossed for Raphael!). Find more about what she's been in here.

So that's all the movie news for today. I'm sure they'll be even more news soon, as they start filming in August. I don't know about anyone else, but I am SO. DAMN. EXCITED. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set to be in theatres in August, 2013.

Book2Movie News! Mortal Instruments Casting Updates

Just the other day the news broke that the wonderful Robert Sheehan was cast as Simon in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie. And earlier today (well, yesterday for me) Cassandra Clare broke the news on tumblr that we've got our Magnus, Jocelyn and Hodge! And here they are:

Magnus is Godfrey Gao (And wow, is he super good looking or what?!)

Jocelyn is Lena Headey (aka Cersei Lannister!)

Hodge is Jared Harris (Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes:Game of Shadows!)

I'm super happy with all these casting choices! Especially Lena Headey - I love her as an actress. Now the only two main people to cast are Alec and Luke. Looks like casting is really coming along, and with every new name they announce, the more excited about this movie I get. The Mortal InstrumentsCity of Bones will be in theatres August, 2013!

The Mortal Instruments: Spottings, Casting Updates & More News!

So, apparently, while I was away and couldn't access the internet, the people behind The Mortal Instruments movie released a bucket load of news! I'm sure the fandom is going crazy right now. A couple of days ago (I think it was a couple of days.. I don't know, I've been away for the last three. So sorry if I'm wrong.)  the news was released that Kevin Durand and Robert Maillet have signed onto play two of Valentine's henchmen. Durand will be playing Pangborn, and Mailet will be playing Blackwell.

Kevin Durand

Robert Mailett

I'm sure these guys are fabulous actors and they definitely look the part. I've only seen Kevin Durand as the evil, alien dude in I Am Number Four. Robert Maillet was recently in Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, which I haven't seen yet! If you want to check out more of what they've been in, Robert Maillet's imdb is here and Kevin Durand's is hereAnd, in OTHER, Mortal Instruments news, Sony has released their design for the City of Bones movie poster title!!

I personally love it! And the 'o' in 'of'' is a rune! Yay! It's very simple, yet very eye catching.
And finally, Jamie Campbell Bower and Lily Collins aka Jace and Clary have been spotted together in Toronto, where they're soon-to-be filming the movie. (They're filming in Toronto and New York, if you didn't know) Here are some of the pictures! Good to know they are good friends in real life. Hopefully the chemistry will translate well on screen.

New Mortal Instruments News! Jemima West cast as Izzy Lightwood.

So, if you're a Mortal Instruments fan who has been living under a rock these past few days or you're simply not a Mortal Instruments fan at all (which is totally unaccaptable .. Just joking), you might not know that our Isabelle was cast the other day! I was at school when I found out and I may or may not have started sobbing in class. Don't judge me. I've been seriously excited for this movie for years now, but things have really moved slowly in terms of the production for the movie. Lily Collins was cast as Clary late 2010 and Jamie Campbell Bower was cast as Jace mid-2011. We are truly The Fandom Who Waited.

Anyways, back on to who the cast as the bad ass Isabelle Lightwood... Let me just tell you, although I was rooting for Phoebe Tonkin aka Faye from the Secret Circle, I totally approve of this girl! She's gorgeous!

Introducing, Jemima West:

I haven't seen her acting, but from what I've heard, she's an amazing actress. If you're looking to check her out, here's her imdb page, listing all the stuff she's been in. By the way, she's french-english, so a lot of the stuff is French.

Here's what Cassandra Clare had to say about her:

"Jemima West. She’s beautiful (like whoa) and really talented. You can see her as Vittoria on The Borgias right now. And before anyone freaks out that she is blonde, she’ll be dying her hair for the role. :) She had a lot of Izzy’s toughness and directness in her audition. I like her."

So.. wow! Good to hear some casting news finally! Clare said she was also going to post who was casted as Alec as she made that announcement, but then had to hold off because of scheduling issues or something. She did, however, say that the person they cast is British and has dark hair. He is also someone we might know. She has confirmed the people not playing him are Ben Barnes, Chris Riggi, Nicholas Hoult, Douglas Booth, Aaron Johnson and Freddie Highmore.

She also said that Simon should be announced sometime in July, as apparently he is a hard person cast. (And I'm all cool with that, because frankly, Simon needs to be perfect.)

... And here's a look at our really good-looking  and talented cast so far!
